Editor's Review
Pl@ntNet is your digital botanist 🧑🔬, right in your pocket! This amazing app allows you to identify plants simply by snapping a photo with your smartphone 📱. No more wondering what that flower 🌸 is called! Pl@ntNet is incredibly useful, especially when you don't have a botanist nearby to ask. But it's more than just a plant identifier; it's a citizen science project! 🌍
Every plant you photograph is collected and analyzed by scientists around the world 🌎 to better understand and preserve plant biodiversity. By using Pl@ntNet, you're contributing to valuable research! 🔬
Pl@ntNet can identify all sorts of plants 🌱🌳🌵, from flowering plants and trees to grasses, conifers, ferns, vines, wild salads, and even cacti! While it can also identify many cultivated plants in parks and gardens 🏞️, its primary focus is on wild plants. The app encourages users to inventory wild plants, whether they're growing in nature, on city sidewalks 🏙️, or in your own vegetable garden! 🥕
To get the most accurate identification 💯, provide Pl@ntNet with as much visual information as possible. Flowers 🌺, fruits 🍎, and leaves 🍃 are the most characteristic parts of a plant and should be photographed first. Details like thorns 🌵, buds, or hairs on the stem can also be helpful. A photo of the entire plant or tree 🌳 is useful but often not enough for reliable identification. Currently, Pl@ntNet can recognize about 20,000 species and is constantly improving thanks to user contributions! 🙏
Don't hesitate to contribute your own observations! Your submissions will be reviewed by the community and may even be added to the app's photo gallery. The latest version includes fantastic new features like species filtering, data revision, re-identification of shared observations, multi-flora identification, favorite flora selection, taxonomic level navigation, observation mapping, and links to detailed factsheets. 🔗
You can even access the web version of Pl@ntNet. Start exploring the plant world today! 🌿
